We've all had a dose of celebrity gossip by now and we know that rumors run ramped in Hollywood. Since the death of Marilyn Monroe in 1962 a lot of rumors have been circulating and have even been published by people who Marilyn didn't even know! But these rumors have been put to rest over time by the people closest to Marilyn. So, I am here to add some clarity to the rumors and distinguish fact between fiction!
RUMOR #1: Marilyn was nothing at all like the character portrayed in the mini-Series BLONDE that aired on CBS in 2001. This movie was based off of the controversial best-selling book "Blonde" written by Joyce Carol Oates. If anyone saw the movie then you must have seen the disclaimer in the beginning of the program that said that it was a fictional account of Marilyn's life.
Poppy Montgomery portraying Marilyn Monroe in the mini-series "Blonde".
This is just one of many stories that portrayed Marilyn as a sleazy girl who was troubled, lost and nothing more than a dumb "blonde". In reality she wasn't. She was very intelligent and loved to learn, one of her favorite things to do was read. Not just any books, but very intelligent literature.
One of many pictures of Marilyn reading.
Marilyn reading about "The Method", a form of acting that was taught at the Actor's studio in NY.
In her younger days she did have intimate relationships with two of her photographers, one being Andres de Heines, but other than that she was not a "easy" lady. Although she saw nothing wrong with befriending a gentleman through her charm and good looks she didn't sleep around!
RUMOR # 2: Marilyn was reported to have committed suicide, but this is not true! Prior to her death, she was heavily drugged daily with prescription drugs by her psychiatrist Dr. Greenson and he used this as a form of his control over Marilyn. Before her death Dr. Greenson hired "housekeeper" Eunice Murray (who claimed to be a nurse but didn't even complete high school) to live in her home and Eunice would regularly spy on Marilyn for the doctor.
Dr. Ralph Greenson, Marilyn's psychiatrist during the last days of her life.
These two pushed away her friends and tried to convince Marilyn that she needed them to function and be healthy. On the night of her death Marilyn called Joe Dimaggio Jr. and sounded as happy and healthy as ever, and none of her close friends said that she was in a bad mood, she was excited about life. She was planning for the future and had even planned production on two other movies that fall. So that night of her death on of her friends called and told Eunice Murray to check on Marilyn around 12:00am because Marilyn had called him at a party and sounded very drugged and incoherant. Eunice noticed that the light was on but didn't bother to go in and check on her. FYI: Dr. Greenson was there right before Marilyn had made the mysterious call to her friend and had given her some injections to help her sleep.
Allegedly, Eunice Murray was given an order by Dr. Greenson to give Marilyn a suppository when he left, and that had killed her. During her autopsy, doctors found discoloration inside her behind(I don't want to get too graphic so I'm using kiddy terms!!) and noticed that there were no pills in her stomach. Therefore, she couldn't have taken pills and had to have taken something that couldn't metabolize fast enough. The final mystery around that night was that Dr. Greenson was called over to Marilyn's when Eunice found Marilyn dead at around 12:30am, and the police were not called until around 4 in the morning. Sound like a cover up? It does to me.
Motive for Dr. Greenson? Marilyn was planning to re-marry Joe and she was going to fire Dr. Greenson that day. All of her friends, one being Sydney Slotsky, can attest to that. Did she fire Greenson? And was his reaction to kill her because he couldn't handle losing his control over her? Or did she tell him she was moving to NY to re-marry Joe and she no longer wanted him to be her doctor and did that lead to her untimely death? We'll never know but those are the facts that were told by witnesses, the friends she called that night and Joe Dimaggio Jr. whom she called before she was drugged.
:star:I hope this clarifies the
myth!
I will post more Marilyn rumors later on in this group...so keep an eye out! For now I better go, I've posted a novel!!!

The whole Kennedy's scenerio was made up by a man who met Marilyn ONCE while she was filming on location for the movie Niagra. She took a picture with him and from that point on he would fabricate that she was romantically involved with him and he made up the whole Kennedy theory in his memoir about Marilyn. It was also easier for people to buy into the Kennedy information because it was fascinating to them. In reality, Marilyn only met John F. Kennedy on one occassion romantically, and she only spoke to him a few times by phone since then. Read any biography that is by her friends, investigators involved and that is actually factually supported and you will find that the Kennedy's were not involved. Peter Lawford, on the other hand, insisted that Marilyn had a platonic relationship with Robert Kennedy and she had only met him once at a gathering at his home. There is no involvement between Marilyn's death and the Kennedy's or Peter Lawford(who was a mutual friend of both Marilyn and Bobby & JFK), at least none that is based on factual evidence. It was just an elaborate rumor that was made up by one person and it grew into a whole cult belief. Does that change your mind Jinx? haha...I totally used to believe that too, but after reading about it, I don't anymore.
3It is a fun theory. Once, I read alot about it, but it was ages ago now. I seemed to settle into the fact it was accidental, but Bobby Kennedy was there at the time. Peter Lawford arranged Bobby's exit. lol
I don't get what the doctor had to gain. If she was dead, or dismissed him, she was gone either way.
